I'm not sure if this is also the case when game dvd's are used.

By the way, the files that you have only go until 3629407.. does that mean the rest of the bytes (until 3919413248) are zeroes?

Also, I'm also still wondering if xbox backup creator and a Kreon drive with sector mapping disabled can give identical output to hotswapping dumps (and using which settings). Could you try? .. the only thing that I remember is that xbox backup creator injects SS/PFI/DMI so you'll have to remove this data when comparing (I don't know which sectors they are added to though).

iR0b0t wrote:

0320 : 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 32 30 30 .............200
0330 : 31 30 39 31 33 31 30 34 32 35 35 30 30 30 30 30 1091310425500000
0340 : 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 0000000000000000
0350 : 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 0000000000000000
0360 : 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 30 0000000000000000
0370 : 30 01 00 53 65 63 44 75 61 6C 4C 61 79 65 72 53 0..SecDualLayerS
0380 : 74 61 72 74 3D 30 30 30 30 36 38 33 32 00 00 00 tart=00006832...

This entry in boot sector, can that be correct?

Maybe this is the start of the data that's invisible on normal pc drives without hotswapping? I found this googling for "SecDualLayerStart" but it seems out-of-date: http://mlblog.osdir.com/ports.xbox.deve … 00108.html

Maybe the PFI contains such info..

Okay, the following is to be registered:

hotswapping:

- I had some problems when tried it with a movie dvd in CDRWin and IsoBuster, the drive do not wanna jump to layer1
- RawDump & FriiDump can not be used there with a DVD-Video, both appz can not accept TOC of the DVD-Video, and they can not handle error areas and stop here reading procedure.
- I tried a GameCube disc for hotswapping, that was the best idea to use it on RawDump & FriiDump, but like said errors can not be handled - to BAD! Was really a good idea!
- Then I used a PC-DVD-Game and that brings you the best results: NO problems by layer jumping, read speed can be set to maximum, YES, highest speed can be used, and there no problems with correct data reading

I have split up the DATA and ERRORed areas, but there different for each game disc:

There are not really much errored sectors, together I have counted ~6000 sectors, and IsoBuster can handle them better than CDRWin.

Layer break of used PC-DVD for hotswapping is 1.741.360, but I do not think that it was registered somewhere! Do you believe the real layer break can be found out?

P.S. I think a large double layered PS2DVD (like GoW & GoW2) can be used for hotswapping as well, but I can not try it because I have no one double layered ps2 dvd

My PSX Patch Requests. All remoteDiffs should be linked, however, you can also use my FTP to batch get them if you like. The UnCompressed remoteDiffs are also located on the FTP:

FTP Address: cody.homeftp.net
Port: 1337
Login: patch
Password: patch

There is also an "!Upload" directory where you may upload patches to if it is more convienent, or you can use other filehosting services; either will be much appreciated.

Thanks, NB

--EDIT--
I added the Track01 CRC to all Discs. These games are from the "PSX v2" torrents on Underground-Gamer. These games are the Single Track games that Redump's DAT didn't pick up after I ripped from a virtual drive; I havn't done much with the multi track ones yet.

Note: Out of 290 Single Track Games that matched SLUS's from Redump, ~140 got added with no problems, ~10 more got added after a "psz001z --fix". I tried a "psz001z --zektor" and "psz001z --antizektor" on about 10 of the images that size matched, however, they didn't fix the CRC. I also tried replacing the final sector on a few of the games with 0's, however, this didn't fix the CRC either. So hoping I can post here, if there is something else I should try to fix these games please tell.

133 single track games that didn't match CRC, but size matched

007 - If you go to byte 3919413248 in a hex editor and then search for the next non-zero byte, then this non-zero byte is propably the first byte of layer1 so you should cut all data in between. After that you trim it to 7.433.027.584 size and it should be correct. Hope you can get it verified on 2 drives that way.

And what does rawdump do after hotswapping?

isobuster is just crappy.. I don't know what this tool does, but the output just isn't accurate.. maybe it's best if we remove it from the dumping guide..

Have you tried hotswapping with a movie dvd? you should be able to extract the full contents then (the drive will no longer be locked)... I'm not sure if rawdump can handle unreadable sectors though, so maybe it will still abort extraction, meaning we can't use it for xbox dumping...

To dump it the normal way:
If you hotswap with a large dvd9 movie, you can use for instance cdrwin (best not to use isobuster because of its weird behaviour with that actua golf game etc..) to extract as many sectors as possible (and replacing with all zeroes on read errors).. When hotswapping, the drive will use the layer break location from the DVD, so you have to resize the first track and remove superfluous zero data (layer0 should be 3919413248 bytes.. layer1 which comes after it is 3513614336 bytes).. if you are able to verify the data on 2 drives then I think you're the first to do this. The only data you'll be missing then are the SS/PFI/DMI... for that you'll need a samsung drive.

I would also love to be able to download the dat files in regions, or via systems with clearmamepro. As an alternative to manually doing it, I did create a simple GUI program that grabs games/regions from a DAT for me that I've been using with Redumps PSX set to grab the USA games; anyone is free to use/edit/etc if they wish.

Convert DAT Program
Convert DAT Source Code

The source code is for Visual C#, the free express version should be able to compile it. The EXE requires a Windows Machine (XP, Vista, Win2003, etc), and .NET Framework 3.5 to run.

Basically what the program does is use the following regular expression "^(clrmamepro|game) \($.*?^\)$" (Multiline, Singleline, ExplicitCapture Options Turned On). This grabs each "game ( ... )" from the dat, and if the game contains an element in the containing text box then it'll add that game to the new list.

For example " (S) , (E) , (G) " would grab every game that contains one of those three strings.

I added a "Check for Non (U)" because there is a PSX game "G-Police (U) (Disc 2)" that references "G-Police (G) (Disc 1)" as it's parent. The check will ask if you'd like to remove this reference so that clearmamepro doesn't complain about finding the (G) game.

Any questions feel free to ask. I've never tested this with other DAT's, other than Redumps PSX, but theoretically it should work for any ClearMamePro DAT file.

I've contacted the seller, and the price, while still to be defined, would be fixed around $500. I would be willing to pay 50% of the price (possibly up to 300$) should someone (a collector here or at snesorama) help me with the rest (if possible, I would like to discuss this with senior members only, as that operation requires a lot of trust). I would after that gladly give the proto to said collector, on the sole condition that he dumps and preserves that proto.

This would give a collector the opportunity to dump and preserve a very rare proto for future generations to remember, while acquiring it for $300-200, which is a quite attractive price.

I cannot secure this program alone, please understand that. I need your help, yet as stated, I would gladly do my share of the burden, provided it's with someone I can trust.

Also, the seller is part of the retrogaming roundtable community (which specialises in covering prototype talks like starcon). The seller, papastu, is a senior member, already involved in proto sales, and he could be able to give visual evidence that the proto is working (although it'll work on a modded PS1 or directly on ePSXe: a normal PS1 will not read it).

I humbly ask you to please sticky this thread and to warn PS1 collectors (trusty collectors) about the opportunity here. After this seller sels his starcon, probabilities the proto copies will be found again and acquired are very low.

awaiting your advice.

thanks.

Hi, what does unscramble do? does it do the same as Truong's descramble_cdda tool?

Also, I was wondering if you could help us by writing a small tool/script to process scrambled gdrom dumps?.. Dremora is always busy (he's the only other coder that I know of), so maybe you can help us (such a tool could simplify the gdrom dumping process drastically) .

The input would be a scrambled 45000-549150 dump file. I guess the tool/script would have to begin by asking for the combined offset value (or maybe the tool can just correct it automatically.. after all, the write offset value is already obtained when dumping track2 so the offset isn't really used elsewhere). By entering this value, the tool can correct the offset (because all the data is in audio mode, the offset is only at the beginning of the file) and begin descrambling the first data track. When that process is ready and there is still data left, it will use the TOC (or a .sub file if you want it really fancy) from the data track to cut the audio tracks to the proper sizes. Then finally the last data track is left and is also unscrambled.

There are 2 problems that I can think of so far: I don't know if the first scrambled sectors always contain all the data (maybe if the combined offset is negative some of the data is moved to sector 44999 or earlier). Also, I don't know how the TOC should be read (gdlister by yursoft does this, but there's no source available of it afaik).
